TED DEMOSLKI
painterCOLD-WORKED GLASS SCULPTURE
I was born and raised in the Sierra mountains of Incline Village, Nevada in 1981. My Opa was from Danzig, Poland. Danzig at the time was a free port near the Baltic Sea and his German roots remained strong carrying the Demolski name. My father lived in Sylt, a small German island in the North Sea. He served as a brick and stone mason, eventually perfecting that craft as a Maurermesiter. My brothers and I carry on this tradition as we have learned to work with our hands and build. Without limits, I continued to explore with wood working, concrete forms, metal, and coldworking glass. I was taught the value of craftsmanship and continue to admire the skilled trade.
I’ve been captivated with modern building materials since I was a child. Through these different substances, my curiosity is my journey as an artist. The transformation of the elements allows me to create a better understanding of the planet, life, and the universe that surrounds us. My vision is heavily influenced by nature and geometry. The natural shapes, patterns, and textures that I experience in these isolated locations are where I find my inspiration.
