Boban

Master sculptor

Frozen in existence at their energetic peak and poised at their last moment of balance, Yugoslavian-born master sculptor, Boban, re- imagines metal spoons into beings that “reach to the sky like the spires of the cathedral,” fueling a study of the balance of one’s physical and spiritual embodiment. Boban views the metal spoons which compose his sculptures as tools with which one may also use to feed their own soul. Beyond what is represented in his artistic creations, the physical materials used further promote the ideology Boban wishes to present to his audience: a deeper dimension of reality that relates to humans globally as a worldly representation of nourishment, and thus, human existence.

Boban’s sculptures can be found in public and private collections around the world. Athletes, angels, heroes, artists, and musicians act as the figurative focus for Boban’s kinetic works. A number of Boban’s sculptures are currently permanently displayed throughout Chicago’s Lincoln Park and Oak Park Communities. A monumental iteration of his sculpture, Pegasus, can be found in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Commissions of his works are displayed at the McDonald’s Corporation headquarters, in Chicago, as well as the Exxon-Mobil Oil Corporation headquarters, in Irving, Texas. Permanent Boban displays are installed at both the MG and the Francis Reilley Galleries in Chicago, Illinois. Notable private collectors of Boban’s work include singer, Tony Bennett, and Hyatt Hotel owner, Jay Pritzker.
